Hi! A warm welcome to Summerhouse Yoga & Wellbeing. I’m Tracy and I’ve been teaching Yoga since 2007, when I completed my Yoga Teaching 500 hour Diploma with the British Wheel of Yoga. In more recent years I have undertaken further training to teach the BWY Foundation Course and become a Diploma Course Tutor myself.
You are in the right place if you are looking to find peace, calm, stillness, but also joy and contentment in a SAFE yoga practice, with an experienced, understanding and fully qualified teacher!
Yoga is the most magical practice and a wonderful way of life for me. If you read my story, you will find out that over 20 years ago I was left broken after being knocked over by a bus as a pedestrian. An introduction to a regular yoga practice and now, the gift of teaching, allows me to life freely with joy, peace and (mostly) free from pain.
Without yoga in my life I quickly feel directionless, chaotic, in pain and unfulfilled - does that sound like you too? Yoga could be your safe place to lead you to feel comfortable, more like yourself again. The challenge of practice, the stillness of relaxation, the focus of meditation, the energy of the breath. Yoga really is one of life’s miracles. And I’m here to share it all with you.
I work with a wide range of people and am experienced in teaching Yoga, Meditation and other wellbeing practices to people with disabilities, older people, teenagers, and those looking to enhance their practice and knowledge to teach others. My specialism is teaching Yoga, Meditation and Qigong to people with Multiple Sclerosis (through the national charity MS-UK).
Join me, join my tribe of amazing students and begin to live a more joyful, fulfilled, peaceful life again.
I am looking forward to helping you live the life you desire.
with love
Tracy xx

BWY Foundation Course
for experienced yoga students
This 60 hour course is offered annually by Tracy at Summerhouse Yoga. It is an accredited British Wheel of Yoga course to widen practical experience, encourage personal development and provide a basic grounding for serious yoga students and those who wish to prepare for Yoga Teacher Training. You study yoga philosophy, theory and practice all aspects of the 8 limbs approach to yoga - Yamas, Niyamas, Asana, Pranayama and all the steps to meditation. The wait list for my next course is now open.
Chair Yoga
accessible yoga for everyone
Chair yoga is a fantastic practice for anyone who would love to include yoga in their life, but has limited mobility or who cannot easily get up and down from the floor. We move, strengthen and stretch the body while expanding breath capacity and calming our mind, free from the everyday “chitter-chatter”. Tracy teaches a weekly Zoom class on Tuesday mornings, and teaches for the national charity MS-UK on Zoom on Wednesday mornings.
Wellbeing - Yoga is more than the mat
We all aspire to living in a state of wellbeing - a state characterised by health, happiness, and prosperity. For me, finding that state of wellbeing means living with contentment. That is not to say that we are always happy, far from it. Life events come, and go, and some knock us sideways, backwards or just plain knock us over! (I came to yoga after being knocked over by a bus in 1997)
There are many practices in yoga, more than on the mat, including breathing techniques or pranayama, sense withdrawl, or pratyahara, concentration practices, relaxation and meditation techniques that can help us toward our goal of contentment, bliss or samadhi as it is known in Yoga.
Other things, such as getting outdoors to exercise, being in nature, spending time with positive people, reading, self-study, cleaning (!) (it’s called saucha in yoga) can all help too. If you would like to know more about how the less well known aspects of Yoga and bringing many aspects of yoga to your life can help you lead a more contented, balanced life of wellbeing, please click below or contact me.
